You have certainly heard the song “Volare” song that the spanish Gypsy King group sing. The truth is that there is no one who has not danced and enjoyed it, but few people know that the true singer of this song was a talented Italian musician called Domenico Modugno.
Domenico was born in Polignano a Mare, on January 9, 1928 and died in Lampedusa, on August 6, 1994. He was a singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor and was even part of the Italian parliament.
In the 50’s he released his most famous song, which is not really called Volare, as we commonly know it, the real name of the song is “Nel blu dipinto di blu.” With this song, Modugno became one of the most important of melodic music internationally, the song was so successful that it became one of the most representative in the history of Italian music.It was awarded at the San Remo Festival of 1958, it was the song number one of the top 100 of the American magazine Billboard.
