From Our Students
Learners who started exactly where you are.
“I run a company and thought I had zero time for this. Turns out one live class a week, with a teacher who actually corrects you, beats every app I tried for years.”
“We’re rebuilding my grandfather’s citizenship file. Starting Italian at 51 felt intimidating — the small class made it feel possible instead.”
“We book a trip to Italy every year. This is the first time I’ve actually understood the waiter instead of just pointing at the menu.”

Questions
Before you book
Is Dante in Linea an app, or real classes with a teacher?
Real classes. Dante in Linea is an online Italian school — every class is taught live, in real time, by a native Italian teacher on our own video platform. It’s not a self-study app: you’ll see and talk with your teacher and classmates every session, and every class is recorded so you never lose progress if you miss one.
Who are Giulia's Italian teachers?
All of our teachers are native Italian speakers — experienced, passionate language professionals dedicated to high-quality Italian instruction. They come from diverse educational backgrounds and bring real teaching experience, creating a dynamic, engaging classroom. And because they’re also fluent in English, they can explain, correct, and support you clearly even at the very beginning, when your Italian isn’t there yet. They lead every live class personally — there’s no automated or AI instruction.
What is the expected time commitment for each Italian course?
You will attend a live lesson twice a week or three a week for 24 or 10 weeks,
The total weekly time commitment is
- 75 min of live lesson time for the semi intensive course
- 50 min of live lesson time for the regular course
- About 1 hous of optional practice with homework and quizzes available in the self-study area inside the Giulia online platform.
What is the class format like?
Each week you’ll join live lessons with a native Italian teacher and a small group of classmates — 2 classes a week in our Regular format, or 3 a week in Semi-Intensive. Course levels follow the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), the international standard for describing language ability on a six-level scale, starting at A1 for absolute beginners. Regular courses cover a level over 24 weeks; Semi-Intensive covers the same level in 10 weeks.
I'm pursuing Italian citizenship — where do I start?
Right here at A1. As an official CILS certification center, we’ll guide you level by level toward the B1 certification required for citizenship applications, with private lessons available to accelerate the timeline.
I've never studied Italian at all. Is that a problem?
Not at all — our A1 course is built for absolute beginners. Most students in this level have never taken an Italian class before.
How much time does a beginner course actually take?
Courses run in Regular and Semi-Intensive formats, so you choose the weekly pace that fits your calendar — and every class is recorded if you miss one.
Do I need to buy textbooks separately?
No — all course materials, including textbooks, workbooks, and digital resources, are included in your enrollment.
What's the difference between Group and Private — can I combine them?
Group classes follow a fixed weekly schedule (Regular or Semi-Intensive) in a small live cohort — great for structure and a lower cost per class. Private lessons are 1-on-1, scheduled around you, in packages starting at 10 lessons — great for a faster pace or a flexible calendar. Many students mix both: for example, group classes for the routine and a few private lessons to prep for a specific milestone like a CILS exam.
